The week before Diwali was the time for students to recreate, enjoy, and bring out their talents beyond academics. The occasion was Cultural Fest celebrated from 17th October to 20th October 2011. The aim was to provide the students a platform to the students where they can take some time off from their regular studies and showcase their talents and creativity in the form of dances, songs, photography, collage etc. which are equally important for all-round development of a student. The Cultural Fest commenced from 17th October 2011 with The Inaugural Function at the newly-built auditorium in the college campus graced by the presence of Hon’ble Vice-Chairman of MIT, Shri Sushil Modi. The ceremony began with the blessings of Goddess Saraswati by lighting of the lamp by the Director of MIT, Prof. G.S. Raghuvanshi and the Heads of the Departments of ECE, CS, IT, AEI and EE, followed by the inspiring address by our Director, Prof. G.S. Raghuvanshi, encouraging the students to participate in extra-curricular activities, and boosting their morale.

Dr. Monica Sharma, the Convener of the Cultural Activities and Head of Chemistry Deptt. introduced the audience to the variety of events included in this year’s Cultural Fest, and thanked her team members namely, Dr. Neelima Shrivastava (Deptt. of Humanities), Ms. Vandana Patel (Deptt. of ECE), Mr. Vivek Rohira (Deptt. of Mathematics) and Mr. Mohnish Vidyarthi (Deptt. of CS/IT) for their contributions in organizing and executing the events. This was followed by the Group Dance competition and Song competition in Solo and Duet categories that enthralled the audience. The second day began with the colorful Rangolis on floor prepared by students with myriad designs, colours and themes. While some students displayed their passion for Photography through their self-captured photographs of nature, Kota city, solar eclipse, college campus etc., some showed their artistic side in the Greeting card competition. At the end of the day, the thinking capability and oratory skills were judged in the Debate competition where the contestants presented their views for or against the motion “Education should be imparted in Hindi or other regional languages”.  

Wonderful collages were prepared and displayed in the Collage making competition on themes ranging from Corruption, Steve Jobs’ journey to Apple, Child Labour, Global Warming etc. While Portrait Sketching tested their observing power and patience, the Best Out Of Waste made their imagination turn out the ordinary looking waste materials like newspaper, matchsticks, pencil peels etc. into beautiful flower vase, bouquet, house etc. The efforts of the participants were applauded and the winners were awarded certificates to encourage them. The four-day fest rejuvenated the spirit of teamwork in students as well as the staff members and infused creativity and a new zeal in them. The third day witnessed a host of activities including Pooja Thali Decoration, Pot Painting, Gift Wrapping and Mehandi competitions, where students showed keen participation. Calligraphy competition was introduced for the first time this year to evaluate their flair in handwriting while writing in different fonts. On the final day, Salad Decoration was organized where students exhibited their dexterity in preparing edible salad in attractive ways and structures. Then, in the Creative Writing competition in Hindi and English categories, the participants poured their original, creative thoughts out on paper on the theme “Corruption”.
